Schutzverein Deutscher Rheder was founded on 27th June 1901 in Hamburg by German shipowners as a mutual insurance association.
Supporting members in disputes arising out of charterparties is the core activity of the Association as a F. D. & D. underwriter (Freight, Demurrage & Defence). In these and in similar cases the Association provides in accordance with its Statutes legal defence and covers court and arbitration as well as lawyers' fees.
You will find us in the Hafencity district of Hamburg, near Magellan-Terrassen and Sandtorhafen with its historical vessels.
